Students are an important part of Ypsilanti's culture. The City is proud to be the home of Eastern Michigan University and closely linked to the University of Michigan.

The 2010 census shows that about 24% of the City's population is college age. Many of the City's current and long-term residents came to the City through their connections to the various colleges and universities in the area. Knowing that students reflect a large portion of our population, the City is committed to helping students settle in Ypsilanti, get engaged through various volunteer opportunities, connect to neighborhood associations, and have a great experience here in Ypsilanti whether it's short or long term.
