FAQs

How do I add or remove my (block/street/neighborhood) to a residential permit parking area?

Petition to Have Your Area Added
If your neighborhood already has residential permit parking, and you wish to extend or contract the area, you may petition to have your area added to that area’s residential permit parking zone. No area of less than one block face or one parking lot, contiguous with the existing residential permit parking zone, will be considered.

Petition Requirements
  • This petition must contain the signatures of 60 percent or more of the residents to be considered.
  • The signature of one adult per household shall be sufficient to satisfy the 60 percent requirement.
  • Hours of enforcement of this expanded permit area will be consistent with the existing hours of enforcement.
Additional Permit Zones May Be Designated
If your neighborhood does not already have residential permit parking, additional permit zones may be designated by the city manager following receipt of a petition containing the signatures of 60 percent or more of the residents of a minimal contiguous area of two blocks, three block faces or equivalent area or distance, which are zoned for residential use.

For purposes of this division:
  • The signature of one adult per household shall be sufficient to satisfy the 60 percent requirement. This area requirement may be reduced by the city manager due to extenuating circumstances unique to a specific area.
  • Enforcement of such permit zones shall be consistent with regular zones unless specifically stated otherwise in petition.
  • Enforcement of permit zones shall be on a 24-hour basis unless an alternate time schedule is requested in the petition. Removal of an entire permit zone may be by the same method.
