Recycling News & Updates

The City of Ypsilanti will now be enforcing the requirement to have an official City of Ypsilanti red recycling bin.  The enforcement of this requirement will allow drivers to quickly scan streets for recycling, eliminating the need to stop at every address.  It will also eliminate the need to return for missed recycling that was placed in a grocery sack or other unauthorized container that our driver did not see.

Curbside recycling is available to residential properties that are four units or less.  Recycling bins may be obtained at the Department of Public Services office located at 14 W. Forest between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.  The first bin is available at no cost, additional bins are available for $10.  You may use other bins for overflow as long as the official bin is in front and visible from the street.

The Ypsilanti Recycling Drop-off site is also available to residents residing within the city limits of Ypsilanti.  The drop-off site is located at 651 Rice Street, and is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Proof of residency will be required to use the site.

Thank you for your recycling efforts and for helping us streamline our curbside collection.
