Curbside Recycling Update

The Department of Public Service Department would like to offer a sincere apology for the lack of advance notice in the enforcement of the requirement to have an official City recycling bin for curbside collection.  We will be offering a reprieve on enforcement of this requirement to allow residents adequate time to obtain a City recycling bin.  The new effective date will be April 2, 2018.  The enforcement of this policy will allow drivers to quickly scan streets for recycling, eliminating the need to stop at every address.  It will also allow us to bypass ineligible residences.

Curbside recycling is available to residential properties that are four units or less.  Recycling bins may be obtained at the Department of Public Services, located at 14 W. Forest, between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.  The first bin is available at no cost, each additional bin is $10.  You may use other bins for overflow as long as the official bin is in front and visible from the street.

The Ypsilanti Recycling Drop-off site is also available to residents residing within the city limits of Ypsilanti.  The drop-off site is located at 651 Rice Street, and is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, between the hours of 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.  Proof of residency will be required.

Thank you for your recycling efforts and helping us streamline our curbside collection.  Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for the confusion or inconvenience our recent actions may have caused.
