AMENDED PUBLIC NOTICE: Rental Inspection Fees Meeting


Rental Inspection Fees

There will be an open meeting held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall Council Chambers, 1 South Huron, Ypsilanti, MI 48197 to discuss proposed fee schedule increases for rental inspections.  The public, especially, landlords and property managers are invited.  The proposed changes will be presented and public input will be taken regarding the proposed changes.   


Please see below for the proposed adjusted fees;

Proposed Fee Structure:

Certificate of Compliance Inspection Fees 


Single Family* – Initial Inspection and 1st reinspection

$200 per unit

Single Family* – Recertification (2-year) and 1st reinspection

$130 per unit

Single Family* - Recertification (3-year special circumstance**) and 1st reinspection

$180 per unit

Additional reinspections

$55 per inspection

Multi-Family Building – Recertification (2-year) and 1st reinspection up to half the units inspected

25 or less units

$90 per unit

26 or more units

$85 per unit

Multi-Family Complex – Recertification (2-year) and 1st reinspection up to half the units in each building

$500 per building inspected plus $42 per unit

Additional reinspection (if reinspections exceed half the units inspected or required 2nd reinspections)

$55 per inspection

Townhouse/Condo – recertification (2-year) and 1st reinspection

$90 per unit

Rooming House – recertification and 1st reinspection

$100 per structure

No Show Fee

$85 per unit

Late Payment Fees

Original fee plus 1/2 the original fee

Lien Collection Fee


Administrative Review Fee

$50 per unit

Search Warrants obtained for inspection

$100 per unit

*single family includes one and two family dwellings as defined by the International Building Code

**3-year special circumstance certificate is available to single family rental properties that received an annual reinspection with less than 3 violations and no formal complaints during the last certification period
