PUBLIC NOTICE: Regarding Recycling Services

RECYCLING DROP OFF CENTER SERVICES UPDATE

On behalf of the City of Ypsilanti, City Manager Darwin McClary extends his sincerest apologies to those residents and businesses who rely on the city’s recycling drop off center services for the delay in providing an alternative program after the closure of the city’s drop off center. The. City has been working diligently to reach an agreement with partners to establish alternative drop off services for our citizens at no cost to our residents. We thought we had reached a tentative agreement with Ypsilanti Township for collaborative services in which city residents could use the township’s Clark Road facility free of charge with the city paying the costs for the services, but we have not yet been able to reach an agreement that would allow all residents of the city to use their facility. We will continue our discussions with them and appreciate the township’s continued commitment to try to work with us. In the meantime, we have also reached out to Recycle Ann Arbor In the hopes of working out a similar agreement at no cost to residents and are hoping to partner with them if we cannot work out an arrangement with the township.

Please know that the Recycle Ann Arbor recyclinng drop off center is already onen to city residents for those who need to dispose of recyclable materials for a nominal fee of $3 per visit. Their drop off center is located at 2950 E. Ellsworth, or you may also drop off recyclable materials at the Recovery Yard at 7891 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. For more information on Recycle Ann Arbor’s services, location, and accepted materials, please visit their web site at http://recycleannarbor.org/services-guide/recycling. You may also call Executive Secretary Nan Schuette in the City Manager’s office for more information at (734) 483-1810.

Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced, and we hope to have recycling drop off services available again to city resident at no cost in the near future. We will keep you updated on the status of this important program. We appreciate so much your kind patience.
