Department of Public Services (DPS) is responsible for the maintenance of all City-owned and operated buildings, facilities, and infrastructures as well as the provision of solid waste services. 


To provide mandated public services to all City of Ypsilanti residents and property owners.


To deliver professional and courteous public services with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for all City of Ypsilanti residents and property owners.  

Routine responsibilities of this Department include:

  • Tree Maintenance
  • Facilities maintenance including capital improvements
  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Solid Waste Services, Recycling & Composting
  • Parks Maintenance
  • Traffic signal and sign maintenance
  • Parking lot maintenance
  • Parking meter maintenance
  • Maintenance of storm water conveyance facilities and structures
