The Freighthouse serves as a vital community gathering place which hosts a variety of community meetings, auctions, weddings, entertainment, and other special events. The Freighthouse Cafe offers year 'round live entertainment and a variety of breakfast and lunch items. Both of these facilities are available for rental.
In a 120-year old railroad freighthouse, the Ypsilanti Farmer's Market offers a cornucopia of produce, foods, crafts, and entertainment. The Market is open between May and November, on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Stalls are available for rental to produce and craft vendors. The City is working closely with the Friends of the Ypsilanti Freighthouse to make the necessary repairs and open the building as quickly as possible.
