Budget & Audit Reports

The City of Ypsilanti's fiscal year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30.

Staff must submit a proposed budget for the financial operations of the City for the ensuing fiscal year to the City Council on or before the first day of May of each year.

Following a series of public hearings, the City Council must adopt a final budget on or before the 7th day of June.

The Michigan Department of Treasury website states:
"Local units within the State of Michigan are required by law to file an audit report. Local units with population less than 4,000 are required to file their audit report every two years instead of every year. All other local units with populations over 4,000 are required to file their audit report each year."
