PUBLIC NOTICE: Frog Island & Grove Road Trail/Sidewalk Construction

Frog Island Construction Closures, Grove Road Trail Construction

Construction on the paths in Frog Island will begin the week of June 29! The paved paths in Frog Island will be closed for reconstruction, including access to the amphitheater from the paved paths. The north end of the park (north of the community gardens), the southern entrances, the Forest St sidewalk at Rice at the south side of Forest, and the west side of the track will have some temporary closures to permit work to be completed. This work will also include installation of built-in bleachers on the west side of the track. Installation of improved lighting in Frog Island is likewise scheduled for this summer.

Replacement and widening of the sidewalk along the west side of Grove from the trailhead of the River’s Edge (Water Street) Trail south to the I-94 bridge will begin shortly thereafter. The sidewalk will be closed for the duration, and the sidewalk ramps at Spring/Grove will be closed during active construction.  Please pay attention to all posted signage.

Many thanks for Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation and the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative for their partnership. We are thrilled that these paths, when complete, will provide improved access to the park and to the Border to Border Trail for users of all abilities.
