West Cross Street Water Supply Improvements
June 9, 2021
The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA) is currently making improvements to the water system along West Cross Street from North Huron Street to North Summit Street. The project recently got underway and is scheduled to be completed by the Labor Day holiday. This update is being issued as a follow up to the notice that was released May 26, 2021.
Upcoming work that will affect traffic is tentatively scheduled as follows:
1. Starting Friday, June 11, 2021, College Place north of West Cross will be closed. Traffic on both West Cross and College Place south of West Cross will not be affected. College Place is anticipated to be open by Monday, June 14, 2021.
2. Starting Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the intersection of West Cross and North Hamilton will be completely closed to all traffic with signed detours for both West Cross and North Hamilton. Southbound through traffic will be detoured to Ballard, westbound through traffic will be detoured to Forest. Local traffic only will be accommodated on all legs approaching the intersection. The closure and detour are anticipated to be in place for one week with a likely one day closure shortly thereafter.
As stated previously, every effort is being and will continue to be made to minimize the inconvenience and disruption caused by the improvements while maintaining the safest work zone possible. Your patience through this process is much appreciated.
