PUBLIC NOTICE: Flooding Update

The City of Ypsilanti has received several inches of rain over the past few days, and we are aware that many residents have had issues with basement flooding due to the rain.  At the direction of the City Manager Frances McMullan, the city will be suspending the issuance of citations for trash placed at the curb to help residents clean up from the flood damage.  Additionally, the city has reached out to our trash contractor to discuss expanding trash collection to ensure that those items damaged by the floods will be removed at the curb.  We anticipate that there will be more information about this in the coming days.

We have received many complaints regarding sinkholes and flooded streets and have addressed or are in the process of addressing many of those issues.  If there are any further issues with regards to flooded streets or sinkholes in the road after hours or on the weekends, please contact emergency dispatch at 734-483-9510 extension 3.  Emergency dispatch will contact the on-call public services staff to address the issue.  During normal business hours (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) residents may refer road or storm drain issues to the Department of Public Services at 734-483-1421.

If there are any non-emergency additional questions regarding trash collection or roads, please contact the Department of Public Services at 734-483-1421 during normal business hours (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.).  Any questions related to ordinance citations can be referred to Ordinance Enforcement at 734-483-1100.
