CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC NOTICE: I-94 Ramp Closures, Washtenaw Work Continues

construction update

Work on the I-94/Huron Street bridge continues as part of the MDOT trunkline maintenance and pedestrian pathway project.  One lane remains in both directions on Huron over I-94. Traffic will be switched to the median lane of the bridge to allow for work on the outside of the bridge.  The SB Huron Ramp to WB I-94 will be closed  for long-term work on the bike path and ramp reconfiguration.  The NB to WB and SB to EB entrance ramps from Huron to I-94 will continue to be closed at this time.   The ramp detour is NB Huron St to WB Michigan back to I-94; we strongly recommend finding an alternate route.  Work on Hamilton, Huron, and Harriet continues, and largely consists of pedestrian crosswalk installation.

The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA) will be continuing work on Washtenaw from Cross to Hamilton, and on Cross at Washtenaw. Detours will be posted. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at times and will also be fully closed to through traffic at times. Observe posted detours; eastbound through traffic is advised to use Hewitt to Michigan Avenue.

This project is part of a two-year planned improvement to the water, sewer, and road infrastructure within the City. The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA), the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and the City will be working together through 2023 to improve the safety of both our drinking water and our transportation system. This project will affect traffic on Huron from I-94 to Cross; Hamilton from I-94 to Washtenaw; Washtenaw from W. Cross to Hamilton; and Michigan from Ballard to the Huron River.  For more information please visit cityofypsilanti.com/roadrenovation.  To receive future construction traffic updates, please sign up to receive City news and public notices at cityofypsilanti.com/list.  Traffic shifts and closures on Hamilton, Huron, Michigan, West Cross, and Washtenaw are posted to MDOT's Mi Drive Site.
