The City Clerk's office issues licenses for the following activities:
Peddling
The act of traveling by foot, motor vehicle, or any other type of conveyance while selling or offering for sale goods or services.
Soliciting
The act of traveling by foot, motor vehicle, or any other type of conveyance while seeking to obtain orders for the purchase of goods or services for future delivery or performance, or seeking donations of money or goods.
For-profit peddler/solicitor applications are subject to a fee as set by City Council. Non-profit applicants are not subject to a fee.
Please see permit samples below - all solicitors and peddlers must provide this permit upon request. If the individual is unable to provide the permit please contact the Ypsilanti Police Department.
Special Event Vendors
In order to sell good or services during special events, a vendor permit must be obtained by the respective event permit holder. No peddler, solicitor, or transient merchant shall engage in peddling, soliciting, or selling during special events or within a three-block radius without such a permit.
